What We Do

Our Approach

Our community is at the heart of what we do.

By ‘our community’ we mean all the localities, villages and townships, as well as Gympie itself, that comprise the Gympie Regional Council area in Queensland. This includes the Cooloola Coast (Tin Can Bay, Rainbow Beach and Cooloola Cove) to the east, Curra and Gunalda to the north, Kilkivan and Goomeri to the west and the Mary Valley to the south.

We are the peak body for human and community services in the Gympie Region. We operate from a community development perspective to support emerging and existing organisations, program and services to build a responsive and inclusive community.

We provide an auspice service for a variety of projects and non-incorporated groups. We assist newly formed groups to find their feet and provide guidance on how to proceed. We find the gaps and seek to collaborate with others to fill them. We create solutions through needs assessments, community research, collaborative action and optimising services.

We provide a unified voice for community action, engagement and influence.

How does CHSN assist the community?

“Being a group auspiced by CHSN has enabled the Access Advisory Committee to focus on what we do best - highlighting and discussing access issues in our community and working collaboratively with others to find solutions.”
